Bio

Athens, GA folk sweeties Howdy, Fellow Traveler! release their debut album Gas Station Alligators November 5th, 2026 via Indecent Artistry. “Fault Aside”, a classic country heart-acher precedes GSA’s full release due out Oct 16th. The single offers a picturesque window into upcoming sounds of Howdy, Fellow Traveler!, showcasing the relatable and wholehearted songwriting of Isaac Johnson alongside the upcoming releases nostalgia-laden production and mojo.
“Fault Aside”, along with the rest of Gas Station Alligators, was crafted and created over a 5 day session outside Jefferson, Georgia. Isaac Johnson, songwriter, farmer, and head-traveler, and Adam Wayton, Athens GA record producer, HFT! bass player, and Indecent Artistry head, set up an impromptu studio in an isolated barn apartment outside of their typical Athens digs. The duo aimed to bring these songs to life by leaning into the solitude, isolation, and serenity of country life. Joined by a smattering of Athens and Atlanta musicians throughout the session, Johnson called upon long time friends to showcase their tastes and talents throughout the recordings.
“Fault Aside” features B-bender guitar and acoustic guitar courtesy of cosmic country’s own Hunter Pinkston, head of New West’s The Pink Stones. Pinkston and Wayton play together in the Pink Stones and collaborated on Johnson’s track (along with a Bobby Charles cover “Small Town Talk” on the record), lending Howdy, Fellow Traveler! the easy-feeling acoustic licks, wailing b-bender, and grooving bass lines The Stones are known for.
“And fault aside, I don’t want to blame you
And pain aside, I don’t want to hurt you
Cause there’s too much love and I don’t want to lose you
Sometimes leaving’s just the kindest thing to do”
Johnson has always been a fan of folk and country a la Michael Hurley and John Prine. His influences shine through strong throughout the 11 tracks on GSA, with each song equally apt to cultivate a smile, make you wiggle your behind, and maybe even happy cry. Years of humming tunes and crafting couplets while plucking vegetables left Johnson ready to record a truly special work of music in GSA… and yes, it’s fully organic.
Johnson describes his outfit Howdy, Fellow Traveler! As:
“Just a farmer and his best friends singin’ songs about love lost and gained, carrots plucked and un-plucked, and how birds can make you cry. Folk tunes sown by Isaac Johnson and cultivated by some of Athens, GAs sweetest, finest musical muses.”
Howdy, Fellow Traveler! play alongside Gar Hole artist Brody Price at Flicker Theatre Oct 17th, and perform at the Historic Athens Porchfest the following day. Details coming for the release show of Gas Station Alligators along with preorder links for the vinyl record release via Indecent Artistry.
